WOK with us
Restaurateur Michael LaPidus brings his next creative venture to Oak Brook IL. Butcher & the Wok is a Wood-Fired, Asian Inspired, quick-casual restaurant in the heart of the Oak Brook Center.
Resurrecting the soul of an old vintage Chinese street vendor, Butcher & the Wok evokes nostalgia mixed with wood-fired butcher meats. Walking in, you immediately feel the warmth from the Asian woks. The wooden elements created from reclaimed Chinese ships and white subway tiles compliment the butcher-block tables as well as the red flamed tile pillars.
At the butcher’s station, the meat is sliced by hand (not machine), allowing the smoky flavors to melt in your mouth. The unique butcher’s sandwiches (such as the pastrami orient melt, butcher’s cut orange chicken, Asian short rib, and more) are creatively topped with Asian slaw and sit atop brioche sesame buns.
The wok menu combines classic Chinese items such as Mongolian beef, kung pao and general’s tso, only the Butcher’s versions are created with wood-fired flank steak, flame grilled chicken and tasty brined pastrami.
There are intriguing salads (kung pao chicken & Beijing chopped) and starters (such as lobster rangoon, pork pot stickers, flank steak & short rib egg rolls).
This new local favorite restaurant will serve up creative side dishes such as Asian slaw, garlic-fried rice, and homemade almond cookies. And don’t forget to try the tasty Butcher’s noodles!
Included in this grand escape is a quaint bar that can accommodate both casual and professional conversations. Signature Asian inspired cocktails, wine and craft beers can be enjoyed indoors and outdoors on their designated private patio area.
